The Academic Systems and Technologies division of IST in collaboration with the New Jersey Higher Education Network (NJEDge.Net) is pleased to announce a ½ day educational event focusing on high performance computing.
HPC is a cornerstone of the NSF’s blueprint for a collaborative cyberinfrastructure environment driving discovery in the 21st century. The focus of HPC day at UMDNJ is to begin a discourse in this very critical area of infrastructure for research institutions.
Leading experts in computing architecture and implementation from several companies with a major presence in the HPC arena will speak on various approaches to large scale technical and scientific computing and the considerations necessary to insure congruence between solution and application. Examples will be offered of hardware and software products currently available to suit a range of high performance computing requirements and budgets. We have also invited the director of University Computing Services at the New Jersey Institute of Technology to give us a brief history of their HPC involvement and projects underway to replace legacy approaches with state-of-the-art compute clusters.
