Voice Services Group
NJEDge.Net is more than just bits and bytes; it is about fostering collaboration for its members. The consortium promotes creativity through face-to-face and online presentations and project sharing which, inevitably, leads to academic fraternity.
Activity groups allow members to have a continued dialogue with colleagues from other institutions on topics that relate to their experience in teaching with technologies. At times the members will approach NJEDge.Net to coordinate the formation of a committee or working group and at times NJEDge.Net foresees the need to bring members together to evaluate and assess developing new technologies. NJEDge will routinely send out a call for proposal to vendor partners, or appoint a member from one of the colleges and universities as chair to initiate a web conference symposium.
NJVid
Through a $1 million three year grant from the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), William Paterson University, Rutgers University and NJEDge.Net launched NJVid, a project that creates a statewide digital video repository and portal with tools and services, providing "lectures on demand," licensed commercial videos, and locally owned videos for use by member partners. Three major consortia representing most educational information organizations throughout the state VALE (Virtual Academic Library Environment); New Jersey Digital Highway, the statewide cultural heritage consortium; and NJEDge.Net, the statewide networking consortium will incorporate and extend their video resources and services in this strategic initiative. William Paterson University, Rutgers University, and eight other institutions including universities, community colleges, a high school, a county public library system, and a museum will serve as initial testers of this model integrated resource. NJVid will utilize a variety of cutting edge, open source strategies to serve large and small organizations and thus support all New Jersey citizens where they live, with what they need.
Through open source programs that provide authentication and authorization, and the repository architecture and a huge repository core located at NJEDge.Net, NJVid will provide faculty and organizations the ability to segment the video according to their needs.
Cyber Infrastructure: Advanced Computing Technology (CI-ACT)
CI-ACT is the newest NJEDge.Net working group organized to promote and facilitate an understanding of advanced computing technologies and develop methodologies to share high performance computing resources among the NJEDge.Net. Whether one’s interest lies in the physical sciences, life sciences, social sciences or the arts as an educator, researcher or simply have a professional development goal, HPC is likely to play an increasingly prominent role in academic life. CI-ACT's mission is to promote HPC for the NJEDge.Net community- it is not restricted to the research universities.

Distance Learning Academic Advisory Board (DLAAB)
The Digital Learning Academic Advisory Board (DLAAB) plays a leadership role in bringing together the collective expertise of faculty to stimulate distance learning initiatives and to promote the meaningful infusion of technology into higher education curricula. The focus of DLAAB is on educational technology, that is, on issues related to teaching and learning, faculty development and support, and curricular innovation.
The Faculty Colloquium Series offers informal, interactive sessions where faculty, librarians, academic administrators, and IT staff from higher education and K-12 institutions come together with experts in the field of educational technology and distance learning to share ideas and information. Colloquia may be delivered via videoconference, webinars, web streaming, or podcasting. The sessions include opportunities to engage in lively discussion - face to face or online - with colleagues from across the state.
The Collaborative Faculty Development Initiative gives faculty and staff the opportunity to work together to develop an inter-institutional approach to faculty development. NJ institutions collaborate to identify desired units of faculty development related to distance learning and the infusion of technology into curricula. Individual institutions contribute face-to-face and/or online faculty development workshops or materials that are made available to faculty and staff from all member institutions of NJEDge.Net and the K-12 sector.

K-20 Initiative
The NJEDge.Net K-20 Initiative brings together member institutions and innovators from primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities, libraries, and museums to extend new technologies, applications, middleware, and content to all educational sectors, as quickly and connectedly as possible.
Co Chairs: Matthew Conforth, Passaic Valley High School

Network Authentication Working Group (NAWG)
With the rapid growth of online academic resources and services, the need for a secure and simplified federated access to these resources was realized. A workgroup was formed to coordinate efforts across the NJEDge.Net membership to provide a forum for gathering and exchanging information to develop and deploy a statewide standard-based Federated Identity management infrastructure. The group is comprised of enterprise directory analysts and other technical staff working with administrative system applications with an interest in user authentication and application authorization.
Video Resource Group (VRG)
The Video Resources Group (VRG) brings educators together to share expertise in applications of video in an academic environment. The group sponsors workshops, conferences, videoconferences, and other professional development activities.
