ePoster: Campus Upgrade: Supporting a Wireless, Mobile, Distance Learning Community

With the advance of computer technology and the Internet, today’s college students are more technology savvy than ever and demanding technology-enhanced learning environments. In order to meet this challenge, Georgian Court University plans to implement a student laptop initiative and build a wireless networked campus. In order to successfully implement and integrate these technology initiatives concurrently, the following requirements are being addressed by the institution: (a) acquisition of appropriate computer hardware, infrastructure and classroom equipment, (b) establishment of faculty training and technical support and (c) acquisition of discipline-specific software to support technology integration.

Biography: Mark Clauburg

Mark Clauburg is the Coordinator of Instructional Technology at GCU. Mark supervises a team of instructional technology specialists who support distance learning and online course management (Blackboard), faculty and staff development, classroom technology, audiovisual services, and the Student Technology Assistant program. Additionally, we will be making this presentation at the NY/NJ Blackboard User's Group conference on July 18.

Biography: Peter Lisowsky

Peter Lisowsky is the Coordinator of Information Technology at Georgian Court University in Lakewood, NJ. Peter manages the help desk, telecommunications, network operations and administrative computing. He supervises technology support specialists who support general-access computing and communications facilities for students, faculty and the entire University community.
