eLearning/Library: ePortfoliosUsing Electronic Portfolios to Support AccreditiationDavid Middleton, Seton Hall University [bio] Paul Fisher, Seton Hall University [bio] Heidi Trotta, Seton Hall University [bio]Many institutions have adopted electronic portfolios to assess and demonstrate student learning. Seton Hall University has built an application that automates electronic portfolio development for its students, while collecting critical information necessary for accreditation. Through a bridge between Blackboard and an external database, students in Seton Hall’s College of Education and Human Services are able to demonstrate their achievement of NCATE standards in an electronic portfolio, while presenting their development as Seton Hall students and professional educators. This presentation will demonstrate this system and address the development questions faced throughout the process as well as the critical next steps. Biography: David MiddletonDavid Middleton is the Associate Director of Instructional Design and training at Seton Hall University's Teaching Learning and Technology Center. He has been involved in the College of Education and Human Services electronic Portfolio Initiative for three years, working with external vendors and with internal design ideas in order to successfully manage the development and implementation of the electronic portfolio system presented here. Working with Paul Fisher,. Director of Seton Hall’s TLTC, David helps to effectively integrate the pedagogically based uses of technology to support student learning and outcomes achievement. With a history of supporting the academic integration of technology, the TLTC fosters innovative growth of technology solutions and tools for teaching and learning.
