"Managing IT During Times of Uncertainty”
Wednesday, November 19, 2008, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm, Room Einstein
Michael Zastrocky, Ed.D. is a vice president and research director in Gartner Research, where he specializes in higher education, including distributed learning/e-learning, administrative computing issues, academic computing on campus, networking and telecommunications and strategic planning.
Dr. Zasatrocky will address prescient issues confronting CIOs. What are the critical market dynamics in higher education and what are the implications of these extraordinary technology advances? What are the implications of Software as a Service, Service Oriented Architecture, Open Application Delivery, Shared Services, Cloud Computing and Virtualization?
How is a CIO to cope!?
Higher education CIOs must manage an organization that is responsible for building and supporting an IT infrastructure and applications that have become mission critical. In normal times this is difficult but with current financial uncertainties, increasing competition for students, faculty and qualified staff and increased demand to provide understanding and support for both current and new and emerging technologies, there is less room for error and CIOs are often expected to support the notion that we really can do more with less. During this discussion Dr. Zastrocky will share insights into how to survive and prosper during times of uncertainty.
This dinner program is an excellent opportunity for Information technology leaders and one or two of their senior staff to engage in discussion with a national expert and colleagues on the important issues.
This event is by invitation only. We recommend that the CIO and up to 2 members of his/her executive team attend on prescient topics such as Web 2.0, SOA, SaaS, Cloud Computing, and more per institution.
There is no charge for this evening of dining and open discussion.
Earlier on Wednesday will be preconference workshops. Our formal conference begins the following morning and will include our fifth annual conference CIO Leadership Summit for those CIO's attending the conference. Any guest wishing to stay over and attend the main conference can register through our web site for the two-day conference.
The dinner is scheduled for 6:00 - 9:00 pm at the Wyndham Conference Center at 900 Scudders Mill Road in Plainsboro, NJ
