    CI-ACT is the newest NJEDge.Net working group organized to promote and facilitate an understanding of advanced computing technologies and develop methodologies to share high performance computing resources among the NJEDge.Net.  Whether your interest lies in the physical sciences, life sciences, social sciences or the arts as an educator, researcher- or you simply have a professional development goal, HPC is likely to play an increasingly prominent role in your academic life.

    This year’s Annual Conference has a significant focus on research computing with plenary addresses from individuals who have played a prominent role in shaping national cyberinfrastructure policy and funding programs along with those who have implemented advanced computing technologies to address some of the most vexing problems in the life and physical sciences.  This workshop will cover a wide range of issues in high performance computing and will offer the participant fresh and stimulating insights into current trends in computing and storage technologies and their implementation in available product offerings.  Progress in local efforts to build a statewide cyberinfrastructure will also be featured.

    The program will be divided into presentations from CI-ACT members and complimentary presentations from the leading vendors in the HPC marketplace.

    Topics to be covered include:

    • National computing grids and CI-ACT’s pilot project experience on the Open Science Grid;
    • Environmental considerations and new green designs to optimize space and energy footprints for compute clusters;
    • Scalable storage architectures and optimization for performance, availability and administration;
    • High performance file systems;
    • NJIT/UMDNJ grant application to NSF’s Community Infrastructure Planning program and other collaborative funding opportunities;
    • Andrew File System at NJIT;
    • CI-ACT planning for the upcoming year.

    Please join us and participate in this important event for the New Jersey Higher Education community.
