Preconference Workshops


On Wednesday, November 19th from 2:00PM to 5:00 PM there will be a series of seven pre-conference workshops.  Each will include presentation and demonstration of the topic.  The participants will have ample time to discuss the topic which may also include a hands-on component. 

Susan Bowen, Mercer Community College, coordinates with the primary presenter(s) of each workshop to build a strong, detailed session.  Please note any special requirements for individual workshops.

    Reaching the Y generation: Utilizing Podcasting in college classes

    Participants attending this session will engage in hands-on activities, which will enable them to create and publish their own personal podcasts. (Description)

    Games in education have been building.  The workshop will review several games and play them; discuss the effects of games in teaching and learning.  Are games effective in accomplishing pedagogical goals?  Do they teach students team building, resourcefulness, to communicate more fluidly with each other?  What risks are there in each game?   (Description)

    CI-ACT Workgroup: Cyberinfrastructure –Advanced Computing Technology Workshop
